Media: Tempera Paint
This was completed in my junior year of high school. My first time experimenting with tempera paint was this project. The different sections are colored to show the various color variations in the color wheel. Included are monochrome, primary, analogous, split complementary, warm, cool, and complementary color schemes

Media: Oil and Acrylic Paint
After watching the movie "The Hate You Give" i was overwhelmed with many emotions that I couldn't put into words. This was the result. (The watermark is mine, Follow me on Instagram)

UnProFesSioNAL
Media: Magazine Clippings & Acrylic Paint
I viewed this from a social perspective, asking myself "What is seen as an "error" in the eyes of society?" From there, I brainstormed various ideas until I came upon my first submission titled "UnProFesSioNAL". I have seen a lot in the media about how black people have been looked down upon or singled out in the workplace simply because of their hair. Their natural hairstyles have been deemed unfit or inappropriate for the office. This was a true exploratory piece as I have not done a collage in a while. In addition, the collage aligned with the idea of things being unfit. I included cutouts of natural hair and various words & quotes to give the audience a clear idea of what issue I was addressing.
F*ck Femininity [#MeToo]
Media: Oil Paint & Modeling Paste
This piece marks my first attempt at painting the human body. It took a few references, and I would love study it [human body] more. As for the title, I chose the naked body to show vulnerability. The bleeding roses symbolized the #MeToo movement as something beautiful but tarnished. I experimented a lot with this piece as the flowers are actually 3-dimensional made with spackling paste. This work was very time consuming but, despite its imperfections, it turned out well.

Two Faced
Media: Acrylic Paint
This was my attempt at expressionism art. I tried not to think too hard when making this piece and just let everything flow. This was the end result. The two sides were meant to portray two opposing moods. On one side we had a lighter feeling and the other more ominous. This portrayal gave a nice contrast to the work that I enjoyed

Scarlette
Media: Oil Paint
As my first true piece with oil paint, creating this work taught me how well this media blends. I am often asked why did I not include eyes. As the eyes are said to be the "windows to the soul", my subject is a soul-less individual, hence the lack of pupils. This piece marks when I first fell in love with this media.
Tempera Jungle
Media: Tempera Paint & Indian Ink
This tempera batik was an interesting process. The biggest challenge with this was trying to keep the colors vibrant during the wash-off of the ink
