Artist Statement

1st grade career day, everyone was supposed to dress up as what they wanted to be when they grow up. I remember clearly that I to school as a painter. From the tender age of seven, I knew I wanted to express myself through art. As I got older, my career choice has changed multiple times, but I've never lost my adoration and sentiment for artistry.
I now make art because it allows you to tell a story without words. It's such a creative form of expression that has no rules or guidelines. What you make is solely up to you. Personally, art is my form of raconteur. I try to say my inspiration is my consciousness. By that I mean what I know about the world around me. The ambition for my art is to raise consciousness and spread awareness about what's going on in the world that the media chooses to cover up or better yet, not cover.
Painting is my favorite area of visual with a concentration in oil paint. During my four years of high school, I have had the time to really hone in on and develop my talents. As these high school years come to an end, I will be attending Savannah College of Art and Design to study visual communications as well as film and television. My interest lies in the way art affects and inspires people. I plan to continue making work to share with the world as I enter this new chapter of my life.
